YEAR 8 CRICKET SMR QUARTER FINAL

The 2022 State Champion Cricket team extended their unbeaten run to 15 in their time at McKinnon on Tuesday 17 October at Aspendale Gardens.

After winning the Kingston Division in Term 1, the team took on Edenbrook Secondary College in the SMR Quarter Final. After winning the toss, Edenbrook decided to bat and after some very economical bowling from all of McKinnon’s bowlers, we restricted them to 8/62 off their 20 overs.

Riva Guliya, Rory Waters and Adam Arbaitman were the stars with the ball, taking two wickets each.

In reply, we made the runs quite easily with a score of 4/63. Harish Salwathura (16), Tanish Singh (15 retired) and Akshaj Gupta (15 not out) all chipped in with the bat.

The team now take on Cheltenham Secondary College in the SMR Semi Final on Monday 30 October.

YEAR 7 GIRLS HOCKEY

On Friday 13 October McKinnon Year 7 Girls Hockey Team played Frankston in the Regional Finals. Our defence was strong and effective and our attack was good. As a team we often got the ball to the other side but in the end we unfortunately missed a couple of goals and lost 2-0.

We really appreciated how the Year 8s graciously stepped up to play with us as we were a few players short. Thank you Luckshya Mohan, Alexis Zhang and Mansi Kashyap. Thank You to Mrs Hooper for coaching us throughout Term 3 and during the competition. We really enjoyed the experience.

The Year 7 team consisted of Meenakshi Abhilash, Nina Grunbaum, Zoe Kalanis, Dhruvi Mittal, Prianshi Panda, Sophia Rink, Sophie Spooner and Nidhi Sreejith.

Thank You to Jaime Segbedzi (Year 12) for coming along and assisting us on the day

We were thrilled to win the Red SMR pennant!!
