MUSIC NEWS

YEAR 7 INFORMATION NIGHT PERFORMANCE

Congratulations to both the Year 8 Strings and the Year 8 Band for their first performance for 2019 at the Year 7 Information Night. The standard of playing demonstrated a commitment to continual improvement. Well done!

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PERFORMANCE

Congratulations to the Senior Stage Band and Eriks Stepanuks for their performance at the General Assembly Tuesday 19 March. The band provided a fantastic opening to the assembly and thanks to all the members and to Mr Dmitry Serebrianik for his ongoing development of this group over this term.

HOUSE MUSIC FESTIVAL

The House Music Festival took place on Wednesday 20 March at 7pm in the school hall.  This has been the major focus of the students throughout this term, with rehearsals taking place before school, afterschool and during lunchtime every day since the beginning of February. The level of support for the students was amazing, as was the standard.

Thank you to our judges Ms Kristen Beayani and Mr David Tohill for their enthusiastic deliberations.  A huge thank you to Ms Katarina Vrisk for her fantastic organisation of this event. Congratulations to all the house captains for their amazing work throughout the term and on the night.  Whilst there could only be one winner, we are incredibly impressed with the standard that was brought to the night.  Congratulations to Monash for their incredible win for 2019.

TOUR BAND TRAVELLING TO USA & CANADA

We wish the Touring Band great success as they travel to the United States of America and Canada, leaving on Thursday 28 March. The standard of musicianship is quite high and we look forward to hearing of the great success you have overseas. Thank you to Mr Dmitry Serebrianik, Ms Tracy Videon and Ms Blanka West for their ongoing development and organisation of this group and tour. Thank you to Ms Robyn Pryor one for her amazing fundraising organisation, and also to Mr Michael Kan for accompanying the students in this tour.

INSTRUMENTS

A reminder that students should take their instruments home with them by the end of term so they can practice their technique over the two week break. The music centre will be open until 4pm to assist with pick up of instruments. Any students going on camps or overseas should take their instruments home before leaving for camp.

Instrument lessons and hire can be paid for through Compass.
