Tennis

Well done to William (SU1) who competed at the Division Tennis competition in Bendigo last week. Will performed very well, finishing in third place at this tough competition. Congratulations to Will on this great result, for representing our school and our District Schools so well, and for all his fine efforts to progress to this high level of competition!

Summer Sports

Best of luck to our Senior Unit students who will be competing in the District Schools Summer Sports competition of Volleyball, Cricket and Tee Ball in Romsey on Friday. A huge thank you to our parent helpers who have volunteered to help make this event happen.

Whole School Cross Country

Our Whole School Cross Country is set to take place next Wednesday, March 8, from approximately 9.10am to recess. All students will compete in our Whole School Cross Country, with Years F-2 running laps of our school oval and Years 3-6 competing in 2km and 3km courses near Gilbert Gordon Oval. Children who are in Year 3-6 who turn 8, 9 or 10 years old in 2023 will run a 2km course and children who turn 11, 12 and 13 years old in 2023 will run a 3km course. Preps will run two laps of the oval and Year 1 and 2 will run four laps of the oval.

Students are encouraged to dress in their House colours for this event:

Mitchell – Blue

Chisholm – Yellow

Dryden – Green

Ebden – Red

Spectators are very welcome at this event. The Prep to Year 2 races will be held on the WPS Oval and spectators are welcome to cheer on students from behind the school boundary fence (outside the school), along the footpath near the oval. Students in Year 3-6 will be running a course around the creek near the Gilbert Gordon oval. Spectators are welcome to support students from the ‘fire track’ or a position around, but off the course, in this area.

As mentioned in the newsletter previously, the focus of the Cross Country is fun, fitness and building a strong school community and House Team spirit. For students in Years 3 – 6 it is also the selection trial for our District Cross Country, which will be held at Hanging Rock on Thursday, April 27 (Week 1, Term 2).

Year 4-6 House Athletics/Athletics Trials Day

The House Athletics/Athletics Trials Day for Year 4-6 students is scheduled to take place at the Kyneton Showgrounds on Thursday March 30. The day is a chance for students to showcase the Athletics skills they have been learning this term, earn House Points for their House and to try out for a place on our District Athletics Team, all while having a lot of fun in the process!

We need A LOT of parent/school community members to help run events on the day. Please consider offering your help at this fun event. More details will be sent via email to Year 4-6 parents/carers soon.
