Senior Unit - 5/6

Hello Wonderful 5/6 Families and Carers,

Week 5 has arrived and it has been a very successful past few weeks full of JOY – new leaders blossoming, summer sport practise thriving and marvelous mathematicians inspiring– OH MY!

The Year 5/6 team were absolutely delighted to see so many students step out of their comfort zone and apply for House Captains and Junior School Representatives. We had an overwhelming response with applications.

All students that applied for these positions demonstrated confidence when preparing and delivering their speeches to their peers. As a community, we are all very proud of every student who applied for these positions.

The sun has been shining and we have loved spending Thursday afternoons practising the summer sports Tee Ball, Volley Ball, Cricket. We are eager to participate at Summer Sports on Friday 3rd March at Romsey where we will represent our school with PRIDE.

We are a community of mathematicians and problem solvers where we have been practising and building upon our skills with Number Fluency, Place Value and Time. A highlight has been reading and converting units of time, 12- and 24-hour time as well as using efficient strategies to calculate elapsed time.

Below are 2 strategies we have enjoyed using to practise calculating elapsed time. Ask your child to teach you and your family these strategies at home!
