Senior Music Students Perform at Centralian Eisteddfod

Last Wednesday 25th May, the Senior Music students travelled across to Centralian Senior College for the Centralian Eisteddfod.

The three classes, Year 10 Music, Year 11 Music and Year 12 Music all had the chance to perform the songs they had been working on all year to a lively audience. For many of the Year 10s, it was their first public performance, pumping out two classics: “Sisters are doing it for themselves” by Annie Lennox and Aretha Franklin as well as Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain”.

The Year 11s returned with own arrangements of Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood’s “The Fighter” and the Godfather of Soul James Brown’s “I got you”.

The NME Trio of Year 12s performed their own composition “Grime” as well as their own take on Lady Gaga’s “Applause” which was very well received.

For their well rounded and excellently prepared performances, all groups received a Highly Commended from the adjudicator. The evening session had the College’s Senior Band perform two of Music teacher Peter Gilham’s original compositions “Sneaky Pete” and “Rock 2” which also received a Highly Commended.

Well done to all those involved.
