Chaplain's Message

Prayer of St Francis

Prayer of St Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

where there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;

to be understood as to understand;

to be loved as to love;

For it is in giving that we receive;

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;

it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.

Last night we celebrated the amazing life of Dr Charles William Butcher in the Swag Chapel. The words of love and appreciation for Charles were beautiful and portrayed an extraordinary man whose wisdom and leadership of the College has left an indelible mark that will continue to offer support and guidance into the future.

Mr Chris Tudor offered his reflection round the Prayer of St Francis and as you read and mull over the words of this beautiful prayer, reflect a little on your own contribution to the world and how these words of wisdom can impact your response to people and situations around you. I plan to use it this week in my own devotions for inspiration and challenge!

Go safely!
