VET in Action!

Hi I’m Macy, I am a Year 11 student here at Beaumaris Secondary College and throughout this year I have been studying a Certificate II in Building and Construction at Holmesglen TAFE, Chadstone. So far, I have acquired basic hand tool skills such as how to put hinges on doors, hang a door, scribing skirting boards to fit internal and external mitres. This term I am learning how to use a range of different power tools which I am very excited about. Combining a VET course with my VCE studies, allows me to complete a qualification, receive on the job training, connect to Industry, complete my VCE certificate and graduate with my friends at school. When I do finish year 12 (2024), I hope to obtain an apprenticeship in Carpentry with a local Builder.
