Careers Expo – 2019

Every 2 years the three Secondary Colleges combine to present the Careers Expo for students / parents in Year 9, 10, 11 and 12.

Dates: Brauer College: Monday 3 June, Warrnambool College: Tuesday 4 June, Emmanuel College: Wednesday 5 June. From 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm.

The program and booking system will be on-line his year and will be launched in a few weeks.

The Careers Expo is a unique opportunity to explore possible career options by talking with current practitioners within a field of over 100 different careers and pathways. Nothing else matches this opportunity and it is only conducted every 2 years. The presentation are made by people who are currently working in the field and they will focus on the following:

Why they chose this career field.
How they got into the career field. Career pathway !
What they really like about the Job.
What they do not like about the Job.
What are the promotion opportunities within the career field ?
Training options: Trades, Traineeships, TAFE and university options

Students / Parents / Guardians: Look over the program and then you can Book into the Sessions you wish to attend. Most sessions are repeated 3 times each night – so you will have plenty of opportunity to attend the career fields of your choice.

This year we will also be offering a special Trades Exhibition on the 3rd night.

More details will be sent out once the new booking system is ready to go.

Year 12 Students - Applying for Medicine / Dentistry Courses for 2020

Students who are planning to apply to Medicine, Dentistry and Health Science courses commencing in 2020 at our Consortium universities in Australia and New Zealand must sit the UCAT 2019 test in the month of July 2019.

The UCAT test has replaced the UMAT (Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test) for 2019.

Registration and Booking close at 11:59pm AEST on 17 May 2019

Where do students register?

Registration and Booking are open at the UCAT ANZ website and will close on 17 May 2019 at 11:59pm AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time).

The UCAT ANZ is a 2-hour, computer-based test, multiple choice test. Candidates will sit the test at Pearson VUE test centres located in Australia, New Zealand and some overseas centres. For information about where test centres are offered, see Test Centre Locations on the website.

The UCAT ANZ is offered on a choice of dates throughout the month of July, rather than on one single date.

Photo Identification Requirements

Students must present one piece of approved photo ID at the test centre from the list given at the link below. Students without an approved form of photo ID will not be permitted to sit the test. Full list

What do students need to do now?

Students who will be sitting the test in 2019 for entry to university in 2020, should visit the UCAT ANZ website to register an account and book their test by 11:59am AEST on 17 May 2019. Late registrations or bookings will not be accepted after this deadline.

Magistrates’ Court of Victoria - Recruiting Advertisement (Yr 12 Students)

The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria currently have an ongoing recruitment campaign for the position of Trainee Court Registrar. This is an exciting role which involves running a courtroom, working closely with the magistrate, a high level of communication skills, and on the job training. Other aspects of the role include:

Work alongside the judiciary as a bench clerk performing a wide range of administrative duties inside and out of the courtroom.
Provide exceptional levels of customer service to key stakeholders including magistrates, police, the legal profession, and members of the public with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Complete the Certificate in Court Services.
Transfer through various sections and different locations of MCV across the state including city, metropolitan and regional locations.
At various times, vacancies come up for courts within the regional locations. If you have any students, past students, or other contacts who may be interested in a career as a court registrar, please forward this information to them as we would highly encourage them to apply.

Interested applicants can gain more understanding of the role by contacting our unit with any questions, and by:

attending a Magistrates’ Court to observe the tasks of a bench clerk
applying for a work experience opportunity (if eligible) by contacting your nearest Magistrates' Court
applying for a work placement through your tertiary institution
studying a relevant tertiary course.
Tertiary studies, VCE or equivalent are requirements for this role. If you have current VCE students, they may be interested in visiting a court or completing work experience to consider this role for a future career.
