Visual Arts

Our wonderful Y8 Visual Arts & Design students have constructed these incredible, small free-standing 3D sculptures inspired by abstract artists. Students worked through a design process by researching artists and generating ideas. They explored a variety of construction techniques and experimented with a range of materials.

The sculptures demonstrate a strong sense of movement, balance and rhythm.

The Working Parts Gallery

The Working Parts Gallery welcomed Melissa Grisancich to THS a few weeks ago. Melissa delivered an artist talk and workshop. THS students, along with two of our lovely Italian exchange students, heard about Melissa's journey as a practising artist. Recently, Melissa had a solo exhibition at Lamington Drive Gallery in Collingwood where she exhibited works inspired by her family's Italian Heritage and Migration stories.

Melissa is an Archibald Prize finalist and was able to share her experience with this prize, giving our students a 'behind the scenes' look at the portrait making process. A huge thank you to the Working Parts Team for facilitating a great afternoon of art making!
