Parent and Community Volunteer Morning Tea

'It takes a village to raise a child.'

Barwon Heads Primary School would like to welcome all of our Parent and Community Volunteers to school on Monday December 12 at 11:00am for a special 'Thank you' morning tea provided by the staff. This will be held in the Community Garden or Fish Bowl (Library entrance) in case of inclement weather.

We are fortunate at Barwon Heads PS to have such a connected and giving community who support our students and school in a variety of ways. If you have been a parent-helper, Parent Partner, attended an excursion or camp, School Councillor, helped out in the garden, helped organise Lost Property or assisted in another other way we would love to see you there to share our thanks and gratitude.

Congratulations Zara Comte - Teaching Excellence Program

It is with great pleasure that I share with our community Zara Comte has been offered a place in the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership's Teaching Excellence Program in 2023. The Teaching Excellence Program (TEP) is a 1-year program designed to advance professional knowledge and practice for highly skilled teachers from Victorian government, Catholic and Independent schools.

The program builds teaching excellence through a focus on disciplinary knowledge, practitioner inquiry, responsive pedagogy and dispositions for exceptional teaching. Zara will be deepening her knowledge of Numeracy which in turn will be shared with her colleagues at BHPS to enhance our teaching of Numeracy at the school.

Congratulations Zara!

School Captains for 2023

Last Friday afternoon, our School Community was introduced to our new School Captains for 2023: Elliot, Stuee, Skye and Maddie. Each School Captain for 2023 delivered a speech to introduce themselves to the students (see next page) and were supported by our current School Captains who could not be more proud or excited for the 2023 group.

I would like to pay special mention to all nominees for school captain in 2023. They were all outstanding, demonstrating courage, bravery and vulnerability throughout the process. It was a very challenging decision for the panel and I look forward to further announcements of leadership positions that will ensure all of our Grade 6 students play a significant role in leading our school in 2023.
