DEBATING UPDATES

Our Year 8 debating team, competing at the year nine level, has won 5/5 debates this year! They move up to the next level of the competition. A big congratulations to Hannah Hickey, Sabina Burkitt, and Grainne Corcoran-Taylor. 

Last week Footscray participated in the semi-finals for the DAV Junior Public Speaking event. Three students got into the finals: Mali Hawke, Hannah Johns and Hannah Hickey. Unfortunately, they did not progress to the finals, but this is the best Footscray has achieved in this competition to date. 

There are two more competitions to come this year: the Junior Debating which will start mid-September. Footscray will be represented by three strong teams. There is also the British Parliamentary style debate competition also in September. 

Thanks to all the parents for their support, but mainly the wonderful students who continue to make this school proud.

SAMI SHAH GETS SCHOOLED AGAIN

You are all invited (and please invite others too) to an entertaining debate between FCC and Gilmore students, and presenter, writer and comedian Sami Shah. This is the second year our schools have participated in this competition. Hannah Johns (7), Earl Vodicka (9) and Mason Hose (11) will be representing our school in what will be a funny and informative evening. 

Come support our students and have a fun night out on the town.
