FILM PRODUCTION
Footscray City College students of Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Screen & Media received funding to produce a short film on location with professional industry focussed equipment, and notable distinguished screen performers. Under the guidance of VET Media trainers Timothy Spanos and Cameron Nugent, students collaborated to produce, "Flo's Special Day", about two life long friends living in aged care. Or are they? Filmed on location at the Abbotsford Convent and starring Australian TV legend Betty Bobbitt and her former Prisoner co star, Reylene Pearce. Betty's long list of screen credits include "All Saints", "Salem's Lot", two "Crocodile Dundee" movies and of course her long running role as Judy Bryant in the world famous cult series "Prisoner". Students used Arri Alexa cameras – a digital motion picture camera designed for use in high budget feature films, television shows, and commercials. Screen & Media students experienced the day to day workings of being on set of a professional commercial film. The Film School will have an Open Day on Sunday 18th August , between 1pm to 4pm where you can come and watch a film shoot in the Green Screen studio, view some short films, tour our facilities and meet the staff and hear about future productions at the most affordable and hands-on Film School in Melbourne.
