2022 SVC Rowing

There are several 2022 saw the St Virgil’s College rowing team win the Head of the River Junior Aggregate Shield for the second year running. Prior to the last two years the College had not won the award in its history. The recent run of success highlights a rowing program that is going from strength to strength. Passionate coaches, young talent and a better resourced program have all contributed St Virgil’s becoming the leading junior rowing program in the state.

With the College soon to return to years 11 and 12, there is growing excitement that St Virgil’s will be a strong rowing force. Not since 1953, when the Head of the River was raced in fours, has the College won the Open Boys event. And never in its history has it won the U16 Boys 8+. Both these prizes are in the sights of the boys, and we expect them to compete fiercely for them in the not too distant future.
