Speech and Drama Eisteddfod

Public Speaking

It’s been a very busy couple of months in the public speaking department. All students who were recently  involved in the Speech and Drama Eisteddfod have received merit points and contributed to their House’s chance of winning the public speaking cup at the end of the year . Congratulations again to all participants. A report highlighting some individual successes can be found in the previous newsletter.

On June 20th Tiffany Tracey competed in the Melbourne Final of PESA (Plain English Speaking Competition) after winning the regional final in May. This is a competition organised by the VCAA (Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority) where students are required to deliver a six minute prepared speech and a three minute impromptu speech. Tiffany was thrilled to be part of such a prestigious competition where the standard was exceptional. She represented our college in an exemplary manner and her  presentations were outstanding.

Also in June, four of our juniors represented the college in the Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award at Legacy House in Warrnambool . This competition is for accomplished speakers between 12 and 14 years of age. Speakers  are required to deliver a 5 min speech on a  social justice issue as well as deliver a two minute impromptu speech . Congratulations to the following students on your fine performances at this event: Jasmine Anderson, Arwen Bounds, Anne Davis and Tazmyn Reuel. Further congratulations are extended to Tazmyn Reuel who was runner up!

Debating teams have all started their preparation for the City of Warrnambool Debating Eisteddfod. The Debating rounds begin at the end of July.
