‘BE THE KINDNESS YOU WANT TO RECEIVE’
SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
Sunday 26 May, 2019
Gospel of John 14: 23 - 29
‘The Holy Spirit will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said to you’
SOCIAL ACTION DAY
Each year, our two Parish schools come together to participate in Social Action Day. It is a day of awareness raising and fundraising. We make the time to reflect on the advantages that we have, living in Montmorency and consider the very different circumstances in which other people live their lives. We look at the theme of how we can ‘Re Write the Stars’ to help make a difference even in small ways and that we all share a responsibility for caring for each other throughout our world.
Social Action Day this year is Thursday June 6. Our Year Six children will be working together and with the Year Six children from Holy Trinity to design the activities for the day. Our Year Prep to Two children will remain here at St Francis Xavier and work with our Year Six Leaders. The Year Three to Five children will will travel to Holy Trinity and work with their peers from Holy Trinity and the Senior school.
This is also one of our key fundraisers for our sister school Buhisan Elementary in the Philippines. We have an ongoing commitment to lend our support to the school as well as build a relationship with their school community. On this day we ask that children bring in a worthwhile and helpful donation to support this worthwhile cause. Please check the attached list for your child’s Year Level Collection:
Prep - band-aids or small bandages
Year One - face washers or hand towels
Year Two - toothpaste or toothbrushes
Year Three - thongs or soap
Year Four - stationary (exercise books, writing paper, pens)
Year Five - art supplies (textas, crayons, pencils, paint brushes, coloured paper)
Year Six - plastic containers, lunch boxes (rectangular shape)
ST VINCENT de PAUL COLLECTION: CANS FOR COLOURED CLOTHES
Cans for Coloured Clothes day.
St Vincent de Paul Food Appeal
Friday 7 June
Each year, as a school community, we support the efforts of our local chapter of St Vincent de Paul volunteers in their collection of food items to distribute to families in need in the Montmorency area.
We know that there are many calls on each of us to help these days but we believe in supporting such work in our own community and this long standing partnership means that the volunteers now depend on our ongoing commitment. In anticipation of a successful appeal, we thank you for your ongoing generosity.
Our next Collection date will be Friday 7 June.
Year Five/Six – Toilet Rolls and canned vegetables or canned fruit or cereal
Year Three/Four – coffee, tea, Milo, spreads, such as Jam or vegemite.
Prep/One/Two - pasta sauce, tinned fish or cans of soup

PROJECT COMPASSION
The Theme for this year is ‘Lives change when we all give 100%’. Project Compassion is Caritas Australia's annual Lenten fundraising and awareness-raising appeal. Millions of Australians come together in solidarity with the world's poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity. Each classroom has been given a box to collect money this year for Project Compassion. We will be collecting these boxes this week.
