Classroom Clippings

From the Year Ones
This term the Year One students are learning about the day and night sky as part of our Inquiry Unit titled ‘Once In a Blue Moon’.
The focus for our artwork this term centres around sky, seasons and how these influence our world.
The students drew a cartoon character and added Autumn leaves as the ‘hair’ to add texture to their art piece.
The students drew an owl, which represented a ‘night creature’. They explored different types of owls and colourings and used this to inspire their own owl.
After going outside to look at the clouds and listening to the story Little Cloud by Eric Carle, the students made a collage of a cloudy sky.
As a home task, the students are observing features of the night sky (clouds, stars, moon etc) and recording their findings with their family. After two weeks, they will bring their observations back to share with their class.
The Year One’s are really enjoying learning interesting, scientific facts about our Earth and beyond.....
