The students developed a great interest towards physical activity. Most mornings we transition to the hall for about half an hour of exercise. The students enjoy dodge-ball, fruit salad and tricky tiggy. These group games encourage our students to improve their team-work skills and their gross motor skills. Some afternoon’s we also make our way to the oval to participate in a large group game of cricket or football. The students came up with the idea that instead of tackling they must tap their peer gently on the back five times and that would mean ‘holding the ball.’
Continuing from term 1 we have been prioritizing cooking experiences and incorporating cooking in our program. To acknowledge ANZAC Day the students prepared and baked ANZAC biscuits. The students also appreciate making chocolate balls as they take turns adding and mixing the ingredients. The students take pride in what they’ve created and offer parents/ grandparents a bite.
As the night to comes to an end, the remanding students invest in board games such as Chess, Monopoly and Game of Life. These games encourage our students to use their problem-solving skills and mathematics skills. The students also enjoy playing Uno with their friends, peers and educators which is a fantastic social experience for everyone.
Once again, a big thank-you to our local bakery Montmorency Bake House for supplying us with fresh bread. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
