Instrumental Ensembles

With limited time for rehearsals since coming back to school, the Junior Orchestra has focused on smaller, sectional rehearsals. This has allowed the students to learn some new music and concentrate on developing their musicianship and ensemble playing.

We held a mini 'concert' in the last rehearsal for the year, which gave students a chance to perform for each other in a more relaxed setting. Everybody was very impressed by the wonderful music produced in such a short period of time!

The Senior Ensemble has also been very busy learning new repertoire and rehearsing. Their dedication in attending rehearsals and their passion for music is highlighted by their progress and achievements this term as an ensemble.

Orchestra and Ensemble Director

2021 has been a very challenging and disrupted year from a musical development perspective.  I congratulate the Kilbreda Music students and their teachers for their dedication, persistence and commitment to continuing their tuition and progress both on and off campus during remote learning.

It has been heartening to see the progress that has occurred since returning to onsite lessons and rehearsals. Unfortunately, due to the sudden, tragic passing of a staff member, the end of year concert scheduled for Wednesday 1 December was cancelled. There will be an extra concert next year towards Easter time, followed by the Music Camp, which is scheduled for 26 to 27 May.

Matilda the Musical

We were so excited that after several attempts at opening our College production of 'Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical', due to four lockdowns and many restrictions, the show opened on 26 November and will run until 4 December. You can still purchase tickets HERE for the remaining shows.

We are so proud of all the students involved, as they never gave up on the show, and attended every rehearsal with such enthusiasm and focus, while showing the greatest respect and support for each other, and for the staff as well. It has been a most humbling and fulfilling experience to work with all these people! As they say, “the show must go on” – and we did it!!

May I take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful instrumental music tutors, parents and carers for their support of Music and Performing Arts at Kilbreda. I wish you joy and blessings at Christmas and through the holidays as you celebrate together with family and friends once more.
