From The Principals

Important updates from Mrs Mann, Mrs Cook & Mrs Strachan

What a wonderful few weeks we have had at Vermont Primary School and Kindergarten! We have been so busy with so many events - Cross Country, Chess Competitions and Colour Runs just to name a few! Primary School is all about building connections within our community, our friends and family and celebrating together. We have certainly been doing that over the last few weeks!

We would like to thank all the parents and carers of our amazing students for their continued support over the term. We value the relationship between home and school, and know that this connection is vital to have children that thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Colour Run

What a success our first colour run was!! The day was certainly one full of colour and more importantly smiles and laughter from students, teachers and parents. As well as being a wonderful community event, it was a great fundraiser with our school donating a whopping $28, 806! We are so grateful for everyone who helped out, especially the Community Network. There will be a video put together over the holidays that we can't wait to share with you all!

For students who have used the Australian Fundraising platform to raise funds, we remind you that the prize window is open from tomorrow, 7th April. You have 1 week to select your prizes, using the online portal you used to collect donations. These will be distributed back at school, once they have all been delivered.

A big thank you to Highway Tyres, Kilsyth for supporting our Colour Run and providing the tyres for our 'Boot Camp Zone'.

ANZAC Day

Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand.  We will be commemorating Anzac Day on Monday the 24th April with a special ceremony at school at 9:30am. Students are welcome to bring flowers to lay at the foot of the flagpoles as a sign of respect.

Yesterday, two of our student leaders, Shanuk and Kaylee attended the student ANZAC Day ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance in the city. This was a moving ceremony that included presentations from Legacy, returned service men and women and student leaders.

Chess Competition

Last week we had the wonderful opportunity to host an inter-school Chess competition. We had a team of enthusiastic students from Vermont competing against students from other primary schools, with our students finished second on the day. A huge congratulations to these students, and to Ms Pittas for organizing the event.

We hope that you all have a wonderful break, and enjoy some time with your families. We remind you all that Term 2 starts back on Monday 24th of April, and Tuesday 25th is a public holiday for ANZAC Day.

Kind regards,

Jess, Joy & Jacci
