,VCAL Community Service Camp - Saltbush Accommodation

It was our privilege, as VCAL Intermediate students, to attend a community service camp. We stayed at Saltbush Accommodation in Balnarring.  Saltbush Accommodation is a Non for Profit charitable organization and part of Kildare Ministries. They offer holidays, retreats and programs to families and carers who need it most. The guests are families and carers who find it difficult to access a holiday, retreat or educational program due to financial reasons, grief, disability or illness.  In our three day stay, we created many fun and lifelong memories. We were provided with the opportunity to help the organization by assisting in the cleaning duties. We restocked cupboards, changed sheets, and fixed furniture, whilst some students repainted the doors. For a group bonding session, we were given 3m2 of mulch and told to work together in order to relay the mulch in the playground. 

During the night we got comfy in the houses we stayed at and watched movies, played games, and bonded with each other. Overall the experience was very fulfilling and rewarding as doing service work for those in need made us feel extremely grateful for what we have. We would like to thank Ms Piccione and Ms Lewis for taking the time out of their busy schedules to supervise us on this experience.
