Student Wellbeing

As we approach the end of winter and collectively we all say Alleluia as we can see that the SUN is shining a little brighter and our whole disposition becomes so much more positive.  We can only hope that we get some respite from the rain although in some parts of this country they would say they need as much rain as they can get.

With only three weeks until the end of the term can we highlight some key aspects that are important to us all:

National Child Protection  Week – Monday 4th to Friday 10th September

The eSafety Commissioner has recommended that we highlight to all of our families that first week of September is National Child Protection Week.

We highlight the importance of this in relation to ensuring that all of the students in our care are safe when they are here and when they are not.

Recently all staff at the College have completed further professional development in this area by completing the Child Safeguarding module from the Government.

Attached to this edition of the Marian News handouts to parents about social media platforms to keep our families informed about the world our young people are living in.

The second attachment relates to webinars available next week about online sexual harassment and image based abuse. These are for parents, are free and go for about an hour. These webinars require families to be registered and are held at different times over the course of the day.

We would encourage all of our families to take up these opportunities when they arise.

Uniform Reminders

As we approach the end of term 3 and the beginning of term 4, we remind all of our families and students about the change back to our summer uniform. For those students that wear our school pants then they can continue to wear them with their white emblemed shirt. For those students who wear the summer dress they will transition to this from their winter skirt or pants.

Our uniform supplier have indicated that some supply issues have occurred with both the school pants and the school scarves.

In the case of both items, the new supply may not be available until the school holidays as the issue relates to production of the items due to supply chain issues.

If you have any concerns about availability of uniform could you please contact the homeroom teacher or Year Level leader for your daughter.

Leadership Process for Year 11’s

As we approach the end of term 3, we begin the process of selection of our Lamp Bearers and Senior Student Leadership team for 2023.

This involves working with those students who have submitted their leadership booklet for a Leadership Day prior to applications for the Lamp Bearer process to begin.

We will keep you informed of the process as we move into term 4 and towards Celebration Day when our new Lamp Bearers for 2023 will be revealed to our community.
