College Principal Report

Semester Two 2023

We are halfway through Term Three and the school continues to run smoothly.  The Year 10 students have been on Work Experience and Course Counselling for all Year 9, 10 and 11 students that will help them decide their study path for the rest of their time at school is progressing.  Senior School Information Evenings have been held held on each Campus and parents and students are reminded that we have  Parent-Teacher Interviews scheduled for Thursday September 14th – more details of these events will be communicated as we get closer to the date. 

College Production

From Thursday 3rd August through to Saturday 5th August staff and students from Keysborough College presented our 2023 production ‘Aladdin Jr.’ To say it was amazing would be an understatement – it was sensational. Kathleen Spaull, Fiona Chamley and Basil Rizopoulos did an incredible job of preparing the students and the audience enjoyed every minute of it.

Over 500 tickets were sold over the 4 performances plus students from one of our local primary schools enjoyed a show just for them.

The email below was received last week:

Hi there, My daughter has enrolled for next year and we were told about your Aladdin Jnr concert by one of her existing teachers at Keysborough Gardens PS. My daughter, a friend of hers, my husband & I came along on Saturday evening. We were really impressed with the whole production! Yes there were some stand out students who excelled but overall you could see how wonderfully put together the production was. You all need to be commended & the 3 main parts were played exceptionally well. We want to congratulate you all on an excellent show. Kind of wish more attended the last show but imagine it would’ve been packed at the other sessions!?! Anyway, Well done to all involved. 

2023 Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Survey links and details have been sent to parents. 

Stay well this winter (reminder)

In Victoria, influenza (flu) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection numbers are high among children aged 5 to 11 years, particularly in those in their first few years of school. The Victorian Department of Health expects more respiratory infections over Term 3.

Most children with flu or RSV have a mild fever, runny nose or cough. Some children, particularly babies and children with underlying medical conditions, may have more severe illness.

Our school has masks for staff, students and visitors if they want to wear them. Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself and your family from getting the flu. Flu vaccinations can be booked through GPs, pharmacies or your local council immunisation service.

Building project

At Banksia campus: 

Administration Building Construction. To construct a new administration facility for the campus in line with that already existing at the Acacia campus. 

Progress – All framework is done and the roof is on! We remain on target for a December 2023 finish.

At Acacia campus:

Refurbishment of existing Music Department. Internal work has been completed and windows are in. Expected completion date remains October 2023
