Celebrating Past and Present Students' Success in Sport

Congratulations to Year 9 student, Zachary H. of 9H who over the Easter holidays tried out for the School Sports Victoria State AFL team. He has successfully moved to the next round of trials from the top 100 down to 50 in the state for the AFL State team.

Abbey Caldwell, our 2019 School Captain, recently ran second place in the National Track and Field Championships for the 1500m, only 4 seconds off an Olympic qualifying time. You can read more here.

Past DSC student, also in the 2019 graduating class, Stephanie Radcliffe, came second at National Track and Field in the Hammer Throw. She made a new personal best and was only 10 metres from qualifying for the Olympics.

3X3 Basketball Tournament

On Tuesday, 27 April, the Senior boys competed in the Victorian 3 x 3 Basketball Tournament.

In their fixtured matches, the team beat all six teams they played, finishing with a 6-0 record going into the finals.

In the semi-final, we met Berwick College, who have the strongest basketball teams (from Year 7 to 12) in the state. Our team played incredibly well and comfortably beat Berwick. In the Grand Final, we met Haileybury who we fought hard against but unfortunately lost by 5. Interestingly, the team had the son of 3-time Olympian Mark Bradtke on it.

Despite losing, it was a fantastic effort for the team to finish second in the state for 3 x 3 Basketball. Our DSC team have been the reigning state champions, so it's been a wonderful achievement to make this last over the last couple of years.

If you see the following students around the school, please feel free to congratulate them:

  • Sam T. 12C
  • Joey K. 12C
  • Tom P. 12K
  • Josh W. 12K

Reflecting on the success of this group:

This concludes the basketball tournaments that this group of students will be involved in during their time at DSC.
