Sport

As another term of DSC Sport is coming to a close, it is a good opportunity to look back and celebrate everything that our students have achieved on the sports field across the last six weeks. This term included the State Swimming Championships, State Lawn Bowls Championship, Division Cross Country Carnival and multiple Division Team Sport Events.

We would like to once again congratulate all students who have participated in the DSC Sport Program throughout this term. It has been amazing to hear so many stories from opposition players and staff members, parents, referees and bus drivers highlighting the positive behaviour our students have been showcasing while competing at the various sports days.

A special shout out should also go to the Senior Lawn Bowls Team for participating in the State Lawn Bowls Championship as well as the Senior Boys AFL Team, Senior Boys Soccer Team, Intermediate Boys Soccer Team and Year 8 Boys Soccer Team who have successfully qualified for their respective Eastern Metropolitan Regional Championships after being crowned Division Champions this term.

For Cross Country this year it was different because you had to sign up. Unlike last year, where everyone ran and the top 10 or 15 went through, this year was still as race at school, but everybody went through to the next round because there was less then 15 in each age group.

The Division Cross Country races were held at Maclaey park in Balywn on the 19 May and the high schools that we competed against were Kew, Camberwell and Balwyn. Some of our students placed in races but only Christian A. won a race for our school winning the under15s 3K race.

It was a very good day with perfect weather for running because it wasn’t too hot or too cold and it wasn’t raining.

Starting off Term 2 Interschool sport with a G O L D

DSC is officially back-to-back Eastern Metropolitan Regional Senior Lawn Bowls Champions!

As defending champions, the pressure was on however our boys maintained their composure throughout the group stage and qualified for the final against Vermont Secondary College. Both sides were undefeated going into the final and the crowd at Ringwood Bowling Club were on the edge of their seats as they watched bowl after bowl surround the jack. But it was the consistency of our boys that ultimately guided them to a 5-1 victory. The sportsmanship shown by all DSC teams really impressed all teachers present.

Post Note:

Our Senior Lawn Bowls team competed at the State Lawn Bowls Championship on Tuesday, 9th May. They performed brilliantly and represented DSC so well. Unfortunately, they didn't come home with a win this time but we are so proud of our boys!

Our Senior Boys AFL team now qualifies for the Eastern Metropolitan Regionals on the 11th of July. We wish them well for that.
