CAPA News

As we reach the end of Term 1 in 2022, I walk in and out of the various classrooms in the Creative and Performing Arts faculty which showcase some pretty amazing talent across the board for students here at Henry Kendall High School.

I had the pleasure of watching our Drama Teachers, Mrs Wright and Mrs Langton, kick off the Drama Club on Thursday mornings before school in the Drama Studio. Students who have a passion for the acting arts are starting their journey here at Henry Kendall High School in a positive and supportive environment that looks to be lots of fun too.

The Art Rooms too have a level of artistic ability way beyond the years of many of our students. As some of the works pictured here attest to, the skill and maturity demonstrated in the images the students have created are showing the potential for excellence over the next couple of years as our students make their way to the HSC. The classroom and digital works coming from all years in Visual Art and Photography are exciting and visually stunning.

A congratulations too to Tansy Neaves - Year 11 and Courtney Cottle Year - 10 who both are both being currently exhibited at the Gosford Regional Art Gallery for A Central Vision.

Music is demonstrating some broad and diverse influences in all years with students in Year 7 creating and refining some interesting Graphic Notation Scores that have been original and fun to be part of. Rhythm has been a big part of the Year 8’s as they complete their Drumkit assessments and research the Drums of the World. The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan all drift out from the Music Rooms for many of our senior groups, including many modern and well know rock and pop tunes.

The Concert Band has started again after a bit of interruption from lockdown. Our newest community members, Year 7, are joining in on the ensemble fun on Wednesday mornings and putting together a range of tunes from The Black Keys to Hans Zimmer.

We are looking forward to Term 2 - Our next big event is the annual OnTrack performance night at The Entetainment Grounds on May 11, 2022. Tickets will be on sale soon.
