Year Advisers Report
Years 7, 9 & 11
Year 7 have had an outstanding start to high school. As I walk through the playground, I see many smiling faces and I hear many exciting stories, including how their first science practical lesson went, or about their experience down at the Farm, or even how excited they are to finally taste the food that our wonderful canteen has to offer.
Across the year group I have already seen such amazing talent. I have had the pleasure of stopping into the Music class and listening to students performing on the guitar and singing, as well as watching some classes perform their very own scripted play for Applied Learning, where it was good to see their drama and acting skills be put to good use.
Year 7 most definitely hit the ground running this term, however it looks like they have finally found their feet. I have seen many emotions and have had many wellbeing discussions with individual students as well as whole friendship groups. My favourite emotion I have seen is their excitement when I announced that our school camp was able to go ahead.
We went to the Great Aussie Bush camp located in Kincumber, and although the weather did not seem promising, we all wore our best wet-weather outfits and braved mother nature to ensure no activity was left uncompleted and gave it our best shot in the most Henry Kendall way possible. The students were able to pick their cabins and I enjoyed listening to the constant whispers about what snacks they would be taking and what clothes they would be packing. We had such a fun adventurous time and I hope over the Easter Holidays they can recharge their batteries for another busy but exciting term to come.
Have a safe and happy holiday, and see you all for Term 2.

Well done to Year 9 for completing your first term of 2022. The start of the year, started with a variety of Covid-19 rules that did make the return to school a little challenging, however Year 9 did extremely well in navigating these rules. During the term the rules were once again changed much to everyone’s delight, well done to Year 9 coping with these changes.
During the term many students have been able to compete in sporting events, both for school and outside school, this includes swimming, cricket and volleyball. Congratulations to all the students who stepped up and represented our school. A huge congratulations to both Ann Jang and Emilie Stevens who have performed exceptionally well in sport activities outside school, and with the winter season of sport starting I expecting to hear many more exciting stories.
This term students were asked to put their name down for leadership roles within the school, this included House Captains and Peer Mentors. Both these opportunities are an excellent opportunity for students to gain new skills, confidence and be a positive role model to their peers and younger students. Congratulations to all these students for stepping into these roles.
Term 2, will be exciting term with the Swimming Carnival, Cross Country and Athletics Carnival to look forward to. Naplan is in Week 3 of Term 2, students completed two practice Naplan test in Week 9 this term and did well with it all being online.
Looking forward to another positive term in Term 2!

Congratulations to Year 11 students for successfully completing their first term of Stage 6! The general consensus is that they have approached their senior studies with maturity and have shown dedication to their learning. They should be proud of their conduct and be considering strategies to maintain it as they progress towards the HSC next year.
A few weeks ago, the moment Year 11 had been eagerly awaiting finally happened – their senior jackets arrived! They are the first year group to don the new design for the jackets, which now incorporate the school colours of black, white, and yellow. Many agree that their jackets look great, including junior students who are now excited to have their own one in the future.
The final weeks of this term have been incredibly busy for all Year 11 students as they have had assessment tasks for most courses within a fairly short amount of time. Students are encouraged to reflect on their strengths and areas for improvement during this period, as this is a valuable opportunity for them to begin building healthy habits for their learning and their wellbeing to support themselves throughout future assessment heavy times.
I hope Year 11 have a safe and rejuvenating school holiday period so that they can return refreshed and ready for Term 2!
