PDHPE & Sport News
Term 1 PDHPE has been an extremely positive term for the students at Henry Kendall. While we have had our challenges with COVID and the wet weather the students have worked exceptionally well in the theory and practical components of PDHPE
Year 7 – Students in Year 7 have been learning about change and the transition from primary school to high school. Students have also learnt about how to manage this change and identify specific strategies to cope with life as a high school student. Well done year 7 on completing your first term.
Year 8 – The link between positive nutrition and the components of health has been the focus for Year 8. Students have investigated the range of foods available in the school canteen while designing their own healthy meal plan using the Australian guidelines for healthy eating.
Year 9 – What are the barriers to physical activity for young people? Students have studied the barriers for teenagers when trying to access health and fitness in the local community. Students were asked to try and find the best cost and non-cost options for exercise on the Central Coast.
Year 10 – Students in Year 10 have studied Diversity and Discrimination. The Final Quarter, the story of Adam Goodes and the issues he faced when he was Australian of the Year has been the main case study for Term 1
PASS – Year 9 and 10 PASS have been focusing on the Body Systems. Students have also investigated the 3 energy systems and the importance of hydration in sports performance.
Stage 6 – Our students in Stage 6 have transitioned well from Year 10. They have come to realise very quickly the expectations and requirements of Stage 6 courses and we look forward to seeing their results from their Term 1 Assessment Tasks. Our Year 12 students are well into their HSC courses and have been able to complete their second assessment task this term. The students in all courses have done extremely well and they should be proud of their efforts thus far.
