“Create a Digital Portfolio that represents your 5C skills”.
A students perspective………
Written by Margareth Munsod - 7R
What is a digital portfolio?
A digital portfolio is a computer-based record of a student's academic progress over time. Because they give a window into student learning, portfolios make classroom learning more available to parents, administrators, and other district support workers. A portfolio documents a student's accomplishments as well as their progress through time. A portfolio will frequently compromise identical work done over the course of several years to illustrate growth.
What are the 5C’s?
Communication: The act of giving, receiving, and exchanging information is referred to as communication. Good communicators pay attention to what others are saying, speak or write clearly, and respect opposing viewpoints. Understanding how words and images affect others is essential for effective texting, speaking, and publishing.
Collaboration: Collaboration occurs when a group of people work together to achieve a common goal, project, or mission. In other words, collaboration is the process of working in a group. The group project's outcome is heavily influenced by how well you collaborate with others.
Creativity: Creativity is defined as the ability to think or act in ways that are different from traditional ways of thinking or acting, and to come up with new and unique ideas, methods, or objects.
Critical Thinking: The analysis of available facts, evidence, observations, and arguments to form a judgement is referred to as critical thinking. The subject is complicated; several definitions exist, but they all include the rational, sceptical, and unbiased analysis or evaluation of factual evidence.
Citizenship: Citizenship entails being a good citizen, which entails assisting others as well as being kind and caring to others. As an example, you could help the elderly, be kind to your peers, and generally be a caring citizen in your community and school. Citizenship entails more than just these things; it also entails accountability, such as paying taxes. Taxes help people in your community, such as police officers, doctors, and teachers.
Mr Herring’s Year 7H Mini Passion Projects:
Board Games..............
In 7H we have been working on creating an original board game in groups. Our process includes a ten-step process including developing rules, a game board design, playing tokens and most importantly play testing. We have realised how important collaboration and communication is in the process of design especially when it comes to refining our final products.
Some of our ideas include; Hunted (a jungle escape game), Power Trip (a dungeon crawler game), Goosebumps (a horror race game), Escape Monster High (an adventure game), Zarden (a role playing adventure), Marvel Cleudo (a murder mystery), Disney Castles (a fantasy real-estate game) and Dungeons and Daters (a monster dating simulator).
We have been having a lot of fun sharing and refining our ideas.
Mrs Woodland’s Year 7E and 7Y Plays…… Bravo!
This term 7E and 7Y have been honing their 5C skills by developing class plays. Each member of the class has had a role - from acting to behind the scenes work. They have collaborated to write the script, refine their performances, and develop their fairytale into an enjoyable show for our audience. A massive thank you to everyone in 7Y and 7E for your leadership and creativity - it has been so much fun to build these plays with you.
Year 7 N and 7R Mini Passion Projects
Students of 7N and 7R had the opportunity for the second half of Term 1 to design a mini-passion project, completely student driven with voice and choice. They created a mini- gallery to share their creations and personal interests.
From music to painting, to digital art and crocheting, our students shared their understanding of their project work to Mrs Woodland and fellow years 7’s. Wonderful way to end the term!
Year 8
Term 1 Project THE FARM:
Driving Question: “How can I reduce water use in my garden?”
Thankyou to Mr JP Grant of the Science Department for his collaboration on our Year 8 FARM Project. In this project students use fractions, percentages and / or decimal concepts to monitor and measure water usage. As the world has limited resources and an increasing population, Year 8 have researched and designed experiments that focus on sustainable gardening practices versus traditional methods. Congratulations Year 8 on your findings, collaboration with team members and communicating your analysis of how your experiment impacts water sustainable practice and agriculture production.

25.3.2022
Good afternoon Class 7N,
I would like to personally thank you all, for the personal contribution that each student and family has made towards the donation of school supplies for Lismore High school.
Students of 7N you have all done such an amazing job in understanding ‘Citizenship’. I would like to thank all students and families that have been involved in the donation process.
This contribution will help students and their families by giving back what they lost in the natural disaster.
From the call centre staff including my colleague Skye, we are so proud of all teachers, admin staff and of course the students for the generosity for the community.
