Chang Retreat

Chang Retreat

It has been an exhilarating start of the year for many of the year 11 students in Chang. Our cluster has had many eager students participate in the first cluster sport of the year, kickball, with an unfortunate loss to Dunlop and a tight draw with Bradman. The determination has been tangible in the air and we are all looking forward for all future cluster sport events.

To start off the year, the first social justice initiative for CRC Sydenham has been the Philippines Appeal, an opportunity for all students to donate items to assist people who are greatly marginalised and are suffering on a colossal level; it has been very rewarding to see many students, including those from the Chang cluster, donate copious amounts of non perishable goods.

From the 7th to the 8th of March, year 11 students attended their cluster retreats. The year 11 Chang students spent the night in the city, where the first night was spent reflecting on the life and achievements of Victor Chang, along with an opportunity to strengthen our connection with our home groups; to end the day, home groups created a performance that mentioned the values of Victor Chang, which was definitely the highlight of the trip! On our last day, students completed activities at the Flagstaff Gardens (Capture the Flag)  and Queen Victoria Market (Scavenger Hunt). Overall, this was a blessed opportunity for students to get to know each other and to embrace the values that Victor Chang held very close to him throughout his life.

Although we are only 7 weeks into the new term, it has been filled with many openings for students to be as active as they can to be a part of the CRC Sydenham community. A big congratulations for all students who were nominated for leadership positions within the school and we wish all the clusters luck as they work their way to accumulate points to determine who holds the O’Reilly Shield at the end of the year.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” – Ephesians 2:10
