ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS' REPORT

EXAMS
Congratulations to all students in Years 9 - 11 who have completed exams in recent weeks. These important assessment tasks provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate their learning this semester; this will greatly help them prepare for the challenges they will face in Year 12. We encourage all students to look beyond the overall grade, carefully consider their strengths and areas for improvement, and act upon the feedback provided by teachers.
VCE ORIENTATION WEEK
All students undertaking VCE studies in 2020 will begin their work next week by attending Orientation Week classes in their chosen subjects (commencing Monday 2 December). It is critical that students attend all orientation classes with a commitment to work hard. Participating in Orientation Week and completing all holiday homework is essential for establishing solid foundations for success in 2020. Students are required to wear full school uniform.
JUNIOR SCHOOL BOOKLISTS
Booklist orders for students in the Junior School next year (7-9) can now be completed online. The link to Campion Education is on the College website or can be accessed here. If you wish to have your order delivered to the school (to be collected on Thursday 23 January), the online process needs to be done by Monday 16 December. Otherwise, families can choose to have their orders home delivered at their own convenience. Digital copies of the booklists have been posted on the Compass newsfeed.
END OF YEAR ARRANGEMENTS
We look forward to Year 7 and 8 students taking part in the end of year activities on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 December. This year we are pleased to introduce an updated program. In addition to the Pool Day, all students will be involved in a one day indigenous incursion taking place at school. All the details are available through the Compass - click on ‘Events’ (under the 9-dots icon) and then the ‘Events’ tab. For the Pool Day, we ask parents to please ensure payment and consent as soon as possible.
In the final week of the year, the College will be conducting Presentation Night rehearsals on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 December. The last three days of the year (Wednesday - Friday) are staff curriculum/planning days and no normal classes will run.
BIKE SECURITY
Lately we have had several students have their bike stolen during the school day because they were left unlocked. This is very concerning. We have reminded students through the Compass Newsfeed several times, asking them to make sure they use a bike lock. Unfortunately this message is not getting through to some students. Can you please discuss this issue with your child should they ride to school. While there are cameras in the bike storage areas, it is impossible to investigate stolen bikes if they are not locked. Parents are reminded that there is no insurance from the Department of Education covering loss or damage of student’s personal belongings.
