VCE Soiree Night

The VCE Music performance students participated in the Soiree Performance night in the PAC and put on an excellent array of talents for family and friends. 

There was a mixture of solo and group performances as part of their assessment work in Year 11 and 12.

Although several students were unable to attend last minute due to covid isolations, the show powered on ahead with Mr Krieg filling in on several instruments to ensure our students got the live performance experience they need. You can view the performances here.

Jagajaga Volunteer Awards 2022

The Jagajaga Community Volunteer Awards were hosted by Kate Thwaites MP at Viewbank College Performing Arts Centre last weekend.

Well done to Hannah Haynes who was the vocalist and sang the National anthem at the opening of the event and our VCE String Quartet (Mahek Fazal, Livi Herrick, Mia Herrick and Steven Hu) who performed as guests were entering the venue and also during the ceremony.

Kool Skools Newsletter Item

This term VBC music department ran the first ever ‘Kool Skools’ Song Writing competition. Musicians from all ages and genres were encouraged to write and rehearse their own songs and enter a demo recording. The best acts were then selected and fine-tuned to spend the day professionally recording at Empire Music Studios.  21 students across 6 acts went out for the day on March 28th. The recording will make up a 6 track EP set for release in Term 2 in line with a lunch time performance to showcase the talent.

One of the student's family (who wish not to be named) made the whole day possible by fully funding the day at the studio, which was in the thousands!

 The teachers and students here at Viewbank College would like to say a HUGE thank you to our unnamed family for making such a great day possible.

Students involved are very grateful for the amazing experience and also a big thanks to the patient and talented engineers that worked with the students on the day.

Music Camp

The past few days, members of Intermediate Band, Junior Strings, VBC Voices and Junior Choir members attended Music Camp at Ferngully Lodge in Healesville.  Students participated in activities, rehearsals and tutorials with specialist teachers in preparation for the upcoming concerts to be held in June.
