Term 3 Week 6 2023 

What have we been up to? 

In Literacy, each class will be starting a new class novel focusing on learning fluency, comprehension, inferring, and predicting skills. In addition to our exciting reading journey, we will be introducing and learning the structure, language features and characteristics of different Description texts. Through this writing genre, students will have the opportunity to explore and describe various iconic landmarks around Australia.

For the remainder of this term in Maths, the focus will be on strengthening students' understanding of multiplication and division. These foundational mathematical concepts are essential building blocks that lay the groundwork for more advanced mathematical skills. Through the use of arrays and different strategies students will be able apply this in problem solving activities. 

This term in Science, students will be exploring chemical sciences. They will be introduced to everyday objects that undergo processes of melting, freezing, heating, and cooling, resulting in various shapes through moulding. By studying the properties of materials and how they undergo state changes under different conditions, students will gain insights into how materials scientists can develop products to enhance our quality of life. Furthermore, the exploration of how temperature affects solids and liquids will allow students to experience firsthand the transformations of items from their daily lives. Through engaging in hands-on investigations, they will deepen their understanding of these concepts.

This term in Inquiry, students will embark on a geography unit, exploring the causes, effects, and contributions of individuals that have brought about change. They will also explore the significance of events, symbols, and emblems that shape Australia's identity and diversity. Additionally, students will analyse the representation of places within and near Australia, examining the similarities, differences, and connections people have to these locations across various scales. Students will understand the vital role of rules and people's contributions to communities, they will develop their skills in formulating inquiries, locating, collecting, and recording information and data from diverse sources. This week Students are being introduced to neighbouring countries New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. 

Finally, students had an awesome time on Tuesday enjoying our school Athletics day! Well done to everyone who participated.
