Fabulous 5/6

Grade 5/6

Term 3 Week 6 2023 - Friday 18th of August 2023

Message from the Teacher:

We are halfway through the term, and we have been jam-packed with activities and classes. The classes went through their Puberty Education sessions, and we received very positive feedback from the nurse.

‘Today I did my second session with the Grade 5 and 6 students. I just wanted to touch base to let you know how impressed I was by the students (in both sessions I ran). They were very respectful, their questions were on topic and sensible, and they engaged so well during both sessions. I cannot recall a better group to work with.’

This just shows the growing maturity that the kids are showing and the respect they are developing with how they treat others and each other. We were very proud of them.

We also have camp coming up in a couple of weeks and the excitement is beginning to build. Please encourage your child to help with the preparations for camp, helping to pack and discussing with them any concerns they have. The packing list is on Compass but if you need another copy or can’t find it, please contact your teacher, or get your child to come and grab a list from their teacher.

What have we been up to?

By Jake L and Isabella N

Hi, my name is Jake and I am a leader in Sport, and I am Isabella, and I am a leader in roller-skating. In 56A, we have started reading “47 Degrees” for Book Club which is based on the Black Saturday bushfires. In Writing, we have been learning about ballads. Here are our examples.

The cold breeze blew,

Then it started storming.

Lightning bolts striked everywhere,

I wish I had some warning.

The storm started to stop,

Until we got hail.

It felt like it followed me,

So it left a trail.

No more hail,

But instead we got a flood.

I got onto the roof,

And then we got heaps of mud.

The water dries up for good,

It caused a drought.

The days get dryer,

Not a lot of water it makes me want to shout.

The days get hotter,

It caused a bushfire.

We forgot to Back burn,

I couldn’t drive away since it inflamed my tyre.

At Lepage there’s lots of things to do

And heaps of activities.

Lepage is a beautiful school.

Bentleigh has many abilities

My favourite subject is inquiry.

And learning about natural events.

I love learning about how the world

and how things can end.

I love playing with my friends.

I enjoy playing on the playground.

It’s also very fun.

And sometimes fall on the ground.

We are looking forward to District Athletics next Tuesday; Tuesday’s House Athletics Day was great. We are also camp We are also excited for Term 4 because of Bike Ed.
