Future Insights Event 1 - How can my child maximise their employability post school and what role can I play in assisting them?

Our first Careers Future Insights event this year will be held on March 23 from 7.30-8.30am in the Hall and will be of great interest to parents of students from Year 7-12. Leah Lambert, a Career and Interview Coach from ‘Relaunch Me’ and also a parent of Shelford, will present a session on how children can maximise their employability post school and how parents can support them in this process. The presentation will cover types of careers, skills and attributes employers are looking for, Career Planning Processes and support parents can offer students.

A light breakfast will be available and there will be an opportunity for questions at the end of Leah’s presentation. We strongly encourage parents of Year 7-12 to attend.

Assistance with Work Experience Placements

Our Year 10 students are currently looking for work experience placements in a range of industries. If you think you might be able to help with a placement for students we would love to hear from you! Please email me at cfreney@shelford.vic.edu.au for more information.

Job Outlook and the Labour Market Information Portal (LMIP)

It is always interesting to see changes in the labour market and this can be valuable information for students when deciding on a career. For insights into this area you can access https://labourmarketinsights.gov.au/
