Performing Arts update
Recently, our Senior String Quartet were invited to perform at the Order of Australia Victoria Branch meeting. The ensemble, accompanied by the Shelford School captains, traveled to Melbourne Town Hall, where they performed for guests as they arrived. They also had the opportunity to speak with several guests, as well as the guest orator, Chris Leptos AO. I would like to congratulate the students on representing Shelford and performing at such a high standard. Thanks also to Ruth Dixon-Lawrence for her hard work preparing the Senior String Quartet.
This week the Year 9 Drama class saw the production of The Mousetrap. Based on the Agatha Christie novel, The Mousetrap is the world’s longest running play. Not only are we lucky to have it in Melbourne, but also for our students to be able to see it. Thank you to Kelsey Holden for organising the excursion.
Sheltones
I would like to congratulate all of the students that auditioned for the Sheltones 2023. Please note the first rehearsal is on Thursday 9 March at 7.40am in the Hall.
HPA
Preparations for HPA this year are already underway. The HPA leaders are starting to piece together each Houses performance. Please note that HPA will run in the week of 19 June, with the performance on Thursday 22 June (mark this date in your diary!).
Staff Update
Many of Shelford’s instrumental staff have an active performing career alongside their teaching, and Shelford’s vocal teacher Isabel Hertaeg, is no exception. Isabel will be performing at the Adelaide Fringe Festival from Monday 6 March – 19 March. If anyone happens to find themselves in Adelaide, feel free to drop into one of her shows.
