Prayer for Shelford community

Almighty God, from whom all truth and peace proceed, we pray for our Shelford community. May you bring us together in wisdom and truth, equipping us with the strength to step up for change in our world. We thank you for the spirit of kindness, care and compassion that our community radiates through its teachers, parents and students.

We pray for those who lead our school that you would provide them wise counsel from others, listening ears and open hearts to see new perspectives. Provide to them strong vision and commitment to work hard in their leadership of this school through our changing world.

We pray for each Shelford family; may you bless them across this year. May each child at this school feel comforted and loved by the community around them and brave to speak up when help is needed. Help all students to be people in their community who are loving, humble and full of compassion.

Amen.

Junior School Services

Across the rest of this Term all parents are invited to join the Junior School for Chapel at 2.30pm in St Mary’s Oaktree Church. This is an opportunity for parents to see what is done in Chapel times and enjoy a peaceful ending to the school week with your daughter/s.

  • March 10
  • March 31 (Easter Service)

Breath Prayers

Last week in Year 9 Chapel, we looked at ‘breath prayers’ which are short moments to pause, take a breath and meditate on something we know will help uplift us in a couple of seconds. These short inhale/exhale sentences can be really useful in moments of stress or worry. Ideas for breath prayers include:

  • inhale (breathe in the good) exhale (breathe out the negative)
  • inhale (I am known) exhale (I am loved)
  • inhale (be still) exhale (knowing that God is good)
  • inhale (I trust that) exhale (I can do this)

Oaktree Anglican – St Mary’s Church

Shelford is blessed to have a wonderful ongoing relationship with the church St Mary’s. This church is part of a group of two churches in Caulfield/Elsternwick known as Oaktree which is why the names are used interchangeably.

If anyone is ever interested to find out about the programs on a Sunday or playgroup opportunities on Monday and Tuesday mornings, please visit https://oaktreeanglican.org.au/ for more information.

The main family focused Sunday Service is at 10:30 every week and you’ll see a few familiar faces from our wider Shelford community joining each week. Please feel free to come along anytime.
