Supporting St Vinnies

Volunteering Opportunity

The Colac St Vincent de Paul shop have asked whether Trinity students would be interested in volunteering some time to work at the store.

Students will need to be aged over 15 and will need parental permission. The type of commitment will vary and is very flexible - it could be 1 hour a week/fortnight or more, after school or on Saturdays. This is a great way of giving back to our community and to help support an organisation that does so much good for others.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

Our local St Vincent de Paul Society supports a range of people in the Colac-Otway region during the Christmas season, including approximately 50 families.

In order to provide this support, Vinnies relies heavily on donations from schools, parishes and the general public to construct their Christmas hampers.

Over the next three weeks, Trinity College students, staff and families are encouraged to donate household or food items that will be given to Vinnies at the end of the term, allowing enough time for them to assemble the hampers before they are shared with those most at need during Christmas.

Vinnies have requested non-perishable food items, hygiene products and gifts for teens, including:

  • Tinned fruits, vegetables, tinned meats.
  • Soups, beans, noodles, pasta, pasta sauce.
  • Christmas cakes, puddings, biscuits, lollies.
  • Baby foods, formula, cereals, muesli bars, school lunchbox items.
  • Hygiene products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soaps, shampoo, deodorant, sanitary items, cleaning products.
  • Gifts for teens (with suggested age labelled)

Each Homeroom will be allocated a box for donations, and every student is asked to leave at least one item in the box before the end of term.

Cash donations can also be handed to student reception.

Thank you for your support.
