Graduates Farewelled in Style

Dear families,

We farewelled our Year 12 Graduates in style last Thursday. The students and their families joined us in the Jubilee Auditorium for a liturgy, presentation of students and award presentation before enjoying refreshments in the foyer.

Following this students participated in a formal dance with a parent/carer then enjoyed a night of dancing and celebration.

Included in the formal part of the evening were speeches from our two school captains, Sophie Darroch and Ben Black. Sophie’s speech is included in this edition of the newsletter and we will publish Ben’s in our next newsletter.

Sophie and Ben were outstanding student leaders and the way they spoke at graduation was testament to this. I would like to thank and congratulate all staff involved in the event and also thank Fr Michael for joining us and leading the liturgy. I hope all our students and families enjoyed the evening and would welcome any feedback.

Year 11 students completed their examinations and early start lessons this week and we farewelled them with a shared lunch and awards presentation on Monday. I would like to congratulate all the Year 11 students on their year. For many this included studying a Year 12 subject and completing an external VCAA examination, which is a great achievement.

Well done to the students who received awards, particularly Josiah Ellemor, who received the ‘Trinity Difference Award’ for demonstrating outstanding knowledge, character and skills across the year in order to excel academically.

This award is presented to the student who receives the highest number of subject and other awards across the year and is our most prestigious award at each year level.

On Thursday and Friday this week our 2023 Year 12 student leaders will attend their leadership camp in Halls Gap. The focus of the camp is for the students to learn more about effective servant leadership, for them to get to know each other better and for them to plan leadership their initiatives for next year.

The students are energetic and enthusiastic and I know the student body has great role models in place for next year.

Photos of the current Year 12 ‘Schoolies’ immersion to Palm Island have been coming through and I am pleased to report that the students and staff are finding the experience thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable to date.

After spending three days volunteering at St Michael’s Catholic Primary School on Palm Island, the group will head to Townsville then to Port Douglas for the remainder of their time.

The Year 7–10 students are currently busy completing assessments and finishing off course work as their school year rapidly draws to a close. To celebrate the year we will be holding our Year 7–10 awards presentation at St Mary’s Church on Thursday December 1. An invitation has been extended to all families for that event, which will include a liturgy along with the presentation of awards.

And just a reminder that our College Major Raffle will be drawn next Wednesday. We thank you for your support as proceeds will help form a Trinity Difference Bursary Fund to enable more students to experience a Trinity education. See inside this newsletter for details on how you can enter. The first prize is a $10,000 travel voucher and there are 10 prizes in total. Thank you to those parents who are doing the street selling in this final week.

The final official day of school for Years 7–10 is Friday, December 2. On this day the students will be participating in a variety of different activities.
