They Took the Bait

On our first attempt to cruise the Geelong Bay in search of a good catch we were thwarted by possibly the worst weather this year! Undeterred, we were able to set sail the following Monday - 10th of October. The sun was shining, the bay was calm, and we were all looking forward to a fun day on the water!

This was no doubt the highlight of the Trinity Fishing Club 2022.

The idea to take a Geelong Fishing Charter for this year’s excursion was the brainchild of Steve Gill, and what a great idea it was!

Steve joined us as a volunteer and was a great support, along with Josh Garner, helping me to ensure all the students had a fun, valuable and safe experience.

Milo and coffees were served after the particularly important safety briefing given by Brian and Tracy, which was listened to intently by all on board!

The fish were biting, the sun was glistening on the water, and the boys were having a fabulous day!!

A barbeque lunch was cooked up by Tracy and that was a nice break from the intense fishing focus!

It was an enjoyable day out for our VCAL boys who had been dedicated to the Fishing Club since Year 7!

The seventeen boys who attended this charter were a credit to Trinity College and looked out for each other during the day.

The smiles on their faces tell the story!

There were a lot of catches and some of these fish were able to come home with the boys. Some little ones were put back into the bay to live another day…. perhaps we’ll bring them home next year!

This is what some of the students had to say about it:

It was fun! Mitch Milne

I liked how we got to keep the fish! Blake Balcombe

They helped us a lot, and it was fun! Toby Parker

All my friends came, and we caught a lot of fish, and the food and drinks were good! Rudi Antesberger
