Junior School update

On Friday afternoon, we gathered at Oaktree Church for our annual Easter Services. Junior School students dressed in their performance blacks buzzed with excitement to share the various parts of the Easter story they had prepared in Drama this term. Miranda S set the scene with her wonderful performance. After the service, we gathered in the Memorial Garden for the Easter parade. It was lovely to see all the effort students had put into their magnificent Easter Bonnets!
Year 6 students visited our partner kinder/ELC to help the 4-year-old preschoolers make Easter hats in preparation for their Easter hat parade. These Shelfordians were exemplary ambassadors for our school, and the OAC children can’t wait to see them back again for the parade.
Last week, the Prep and Year 1 students explored Helenslea looking for 2D shapes. They worked with dedication to draw and photograph many different shapes they discovered.
Last Wednesday, Year 3-6 students pulled on their runners, dressed in house colors and drew upon their house spirit, to complete the Shelford Junior School annual Cross County. They displayed exemplary effort and resilience to make it an enjoyable and fun occasion. The day went to Thomas House, with the most points overall but at the same time, everyone who participated was a winner. Congratulations to the following students who placed as the age group champions:
Students from Years 2 to 6 are invited to apply to participate in the 2023 Science Talent Search. Only a limited number of projects can be entered from Shelford, so students need to submit a proposal that must include the category chosen, the title of the project and an outline of the project using dot points. Proposals need to be emailed to Miss Sidaway by Friday 19 May. Further details can be found on Shelly here.
Last Friday, the JS students, bedecked in Neon, rocked on to celebrate the (near) end of a busy and fun-filled term. Thank you to Ms O’Connor who danced til she dropped, and Ms Gemmell, who manned the door and of course, to SPA who arranged this fun event.
