Principal's report

Mr Shaun McClare

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung People of the Kulin nation; past, present and those who will walk with us into the future.

We acknowledge the rich and unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas, educational practices and the hopes of all First Nations Peoples. We do this in the spirit of reconciliation as we move to a place of justice and partnership - together we work, learn, play and care for one another and this land.

Cross Country Carnival

The Cross Country Carnival was once again a great highlight of the year at Kalinda. The event was colourful, the rain stayed away and the students made us so proud of their amazing efforts.

Whether they excelled at running or just struggled to make it to the finish line, none of the students gave up and they gave it their all. Doing your Personal Best is something we greatly value at Kalinda and every single student was amazing.

Thank you so much to all the volunteers who made the event possible and our amazing PE teachers Mrs Oakley and Ms Davies for planning and running the carnival

Mothers' Day Stall

The Mother's Day Stall was another fantastic day for our students. A huge thank you to the P&F members who made the day possible. It is so wonderful that we can continue this tradition at the school and be part of celebrating the amazing contribution that mothers and other special women make. Wishing you all a great day on Sunday.

Job Opportunity - Casual Canteen Manager

We are very sorry that the canteen has not been up and running for quite a while now. We know it is a service that all of our students (and staff at Kalinda greatly enjoy).

Unfortunately, Justine's absence has been a lot longer than either Jusine or the school expected. Initially, we thought she would just be away for a short while, then we thought she would be returning at the beginning of the year and then at the beginning of this term. This has been particularly frustrating for Justine, in particular, and we are continuing to support her.

At the beginning of this year, we spoke to a number of canteen companies to see if they could fill in during her absence and none of them were able to do so. In the meantime, we have held some special food days (please see below for a Sushi Day coming up on the 31st May and information will be sent out soon regarding a baked potato day on Tuesday 20th June), however, we know this is not the same as having the canteen operating.

As such, we are putting the call out for a Casual Canteen Manager. This position is not to replace Justine, but to manage the canteen in her absence and possibly support her as she returns to work.

If anyone is keen to fill this role, and preferably has some professional cooking or catering experience, then please contact me on 03 9876 3289 or shaun.mcclare@education.vic.gov.au

Please feel free to share this with anyone you know who may be interested in such a role.

Sushi Day - Wednesday 31st May

On Wednesday 31st May we will be having a special sushi lunch available to order at school. Sushi@school is the company providing this for us.

Orders can be made at www.sushi.net.au

Please see the attachments below for information about the day, how to order and a full list of ingredients.

Welcoming our  new staff members

It has been so great this term to have some new staff members as part of our team here at school. In Yr 1 we have Ms Kate Spillane, in Yr 5 we have Ms Grace Millar, as a Teacher Assistant in Yr 3 we have Julia Robertson and as a Japanese Intern we have Minori Ichihashi.

Our new staff members have already settled in so well and are making a great contribution to the education and well-being of our students.

Enrolling for 2024

From the beginning of Term 2, we are able to accept enrolments for 2024 Foundation students.

School Tours are open now. Tours can be booked via this link.
