Assistant Principal's report

Mrs Lauren Hopkins

Hopkins on Tour

Our family has been away on a caravanning adventure up the East Coast of Australia. The learning we did and the laughter we had (as well as the problems, disagreements and tired moments) really are priceless. Our favourite place to visit was K'Gari (Fraser Island), a true wonderland. K'Gari is the largest sand island in the world, and despite any difficulties you might remember if you have ever tried to grow flowers or vegetables in sandy soil - it is the most diverse and fascinating habitat I have ever visited! Visiting K'Gari was a life changing experience for me and I am endlessly grateful to the Butchulla people who have nurtured and cherished that land for thousands of years. Have you ever considered exploring Australia with your family? If you would ever like me to list my infinite list of why you should consider it please pop by, it's a favourite topic of mine!

What a Knight! Production

There is lots of important information on the Performing Arts page so please ensure you have read through it all, especially costuming information in time for all students to be ready for our Costume Check/Photo day on Thursday 25th May.

Your child's learning

The home-school partnership is an extremely high priority for us at Kalinda and our staff work hard to ensure that there are multiple ways in which you can keep in touch with your child's learning.

  • Parent-teacher interviews in Terms 1 and 3
  • Individual Student Reports at the end of Terms 2 and 4
  • Use of Student Learning Sites - each level has a site where you can find the Learning Intentions for this week or fortnight and gain insight into the topics and vocabulary your child will be exposed to in the classroom. Details for personalised access (password) to Kalinda Online can be found in your child's diary.
  • Compass newsfeeds and announcements about special events and learning opportunities.
  • School Facebook page - photos, celebrations and reminders about life at Kalinda.
  • Teacher emails - All teachers are accessible by email if you have any queries or concerns. You can also leave a phone message at the office 98763289.
  • Open door policy- We love it when you pop into the classroom to say hello but don't forget we are here whenever you have a query or concern as well.
  • and lastly but very importantly - a commitment to No Surprises! If your child's teacher has concerns or queries about your child's learning or wellbeing, you won't need to wait until the next interview or report, your teacher will reach out to ensure we are all on the same page and know the plan for what is next.

Take care Kalinda, you are very important to me.
