Update from the Reports Department

Junior School –  Semester 1

Semester Report: The Semester 1 Reports were published by teachers on Astra for all subjects by the end of Term 1. A copy of the full semester report was saved to Astra on 26 June. The report was also mailed home to parents during the holidays.

Effort and Dedication Report: The Effort and Dedication Summary Report for Semester 1 was published on Astra for parents to view at the end of June. Parents received notification of the published reports via email and Astra News.

Merit Certificates: Merit Certificates were presented to students at the end of Term 2 assemblies. Parents can access a copy of the Merits on Astra under the 'Academic Reports' tab on the student profile.

Senior School – Semester 1

Effort and Dedication Reports: Teachers grade students' classroom Effort and Dedication six times yearly for most subjects. Most subjects were graded three times in Semester 1: Round 1 on 24 February, Round 2 on 24 March and Round 3 on 26 May.

The Effort and Dedication Summary Round 3 Report was published on Astra for parents on 14 June. For more information on viewing the Effort and Dedication grades and all assessment grades, refer to the information below.

Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Care Reports: The Semester 1 Pastoral report was published on Astra by the Head of House and House Tutors in the last week of Term 2.  A PDF copy was made available on Astra at the end of June. Parents received notification of the published reports via email and Astra News, and received Astra notifications as each subject teacher published the grades.

Comparative Assessment Report and Student Performance Graph: The reports were published on Astra in the first week of July. Parents received notification of the published reports via email and Astra News.

Merit Certificates: Merit Certificates were presented to students with less than five (Years 7, 8, 11 and 12) or six (Years 9 and 10) Merits in House Assemblies at the start of Term 3.

Students in Years 7, 8, 11 and 12 who received 5+ Merits, and students in Years 9 and 10 who received 6+ Merits were presented with their Merits at the first Term 3 Principal's Assembly. Those students were also awarded an Academic Astra Badge. Parents can access a copy of the Merits on Astra under the 'Academic Reports' tab on the student profile.

Senior School – Continuous Reporting on Astra

For most subjects, each time students undertake any specific assessment task, the subject teacher will provide written feedback on the task and the grade achieved on Astra. Feedback on general progress will be provided online each term, including a summary of your child’s effort and dedication to the subject in general.

Parents receive notifications via Astra. At the end of the year, all parents will receive an online Academic Report: the 'Statement of Results'.

Accessing reports via Astra

Academic Reports:

You can access your child’s PDF Report via Astra. The 'Academic Reports' button is located under your child’s photo, to the right of their Timetable button. Select this and you will see all the Girton Academic Reports, along with Merit Certificates.

Online Grades view:

To view all your child’s grades and feedback, log in to Astra, then select the ‘Grades’ tab underneath your child’s photo. You will see a full overview of any published grades and comments, and can select the relevant subject from the drop-down list. You can also access the published ‘Grades’ by clicking on the notification you receive to go directly to the feedback. Please select the FAQs icon located on your parent Astra dashboard for help with accessing grades and other helpful hints. Under the 'Parent FAQs' subheading, you will find links to instruction pages and helpful video tutorials from a past parent information session.

Other reports:

Only Girton Grammar Academic Reports are available via this Astra icon. If you want to view other reports (e.g. NAPLAN), you need to select 'Documents' on your opening page, then click on your child’s name to the right of the screen, and the other reports will be shown under the 'Government Reports' subheading.

On Astra, you can also see your child’s Timetable, Calendar, Due Work and lots more by selecting your child’s name on the left-hand side of the home page. To return to the Astra home page, click the Astra logo on the top left.

If you are having trouble accessing Astra or need your login details, please email ithelpdesk@girton.vic.edu.au
