Congratulations to...

Mr Clint Whitsed

Congratulations to Mr Whitsed, Teacher of English and Humanities and Assistant Head of Riley House, who has just been selected as one of 35 teachers from across Australia to recieve a grant to study the Holocaust in Israel in January 2024. This is an exciting opportunity for Mr Whitsed and we wish him the best for the upcoming trip.

Two of Girton's amazing choirs

Congratulations to two of Girton's choirs who participated at the Victorian Schools Music Festival in Box Hill on Thursday 3 August.

Girton Singers was awarded Gold. They were sublime. Amelie Woodward's solo was haunting and she received accolades from the chief adjudicator. The JS Performance Choir was awarded Platinum. It is a big ask to get very young children to perform 15 pages of music from memory but they did and performed magnificently.

100 Girton students made the trip to compete against other schools from across Victoria. A huge thanks to Kath O'Shea and Liz Tobias for their support of Girton Singers. Thanks to Shari Williams for all manner of support including very tedious paperwork for both choirs.

The Junior School Performance Choir was beautifully supported by Maria Krelle, Pue Milner, Noelle Leader and Nicola Matthew. A massive thank you to Kim Henery also for her support and managing the very many moving parts.

We were thankful to have Belinda Moon accompany us. Her flawless work at the ivories was noted by the adjudicators.

Please congratulate the students when you see them. They were magnificent.

Mrs Laura Dusseljee
