Preparing for Business

Our VCAL students have been busily preparing their shop to open on Thursday 21 March.

Students have worked in small groups with a budget of $50 to start their own business and sell a product that they have chosen. At the end of the project, students pay back their $50 and donate any profits to the charity of their choosing.

Items on sale include terrariums, face masks, candles, bags, scrunchies and tie dye socks and t-shirts.

Project GenZ ‘Dare to Dream’  Workshop

On Tuesday 12 March, VCAL students participated in the Project GenZ ‘Dare to Dream’ Workshop facilitated by Liz Volpe; “One of Australia's most prominent female entrepreneurs dedicated to empowering the next generation.” The Dare to Dream Workshop consisted of an Apprentice Challenge, where, in teams, students had 90 minutes to create a video and a pitch to sell promotional pens and raise $30,000 for young students in Cambodia.

The energy and creativity in the room was amazing and all students should be immensely proud of their efforts. The winners were team Rise Up. They proposed that people could sponsor a child and receive a promotional pen as part of the package to write to their sponsor child.

An individual winner was also selected for stepping out of her comfort zone, taking on the challenge and demonstrating innovative thinking. Congratulations to Mia Li-Donni for winning this prize. Mia has won a mentoring session with an industry mentor, a position on the student board of GenZ and work placement opportunities.
