Assistant Principals' Update

Parent Teacher/ Student Interviews

The Term 1 Interim reports are now available on the Parent Access Module. The interim report provides an indication of academic progress and work habits.

You will see two codes (W and R) under the heading Parent/Teacher/Student Interview:

W - Welcomed - you are welcome to make a time to see a teacher.

R - Requested - the subject teacher would like to see you to discuss your daughter’s progress.

Last week, all families should have received directions on how to access the report via PAM and how to book an interview. If you did not receive the email or you are experiencing difficulty accessing PAM and booking interviews, please contact the school and we can assist you.

We encourage your daughter to accompany you to the interview, as the teacher’s comments are intended to provide an opportunity for a three-way discussion, thereby maximising the improvements to your daughter’s learning strategies.

Interview Times:

Thursday 28 March: 4.00pm – 8.30pm

Monday 1 April: 2.45pm – 8.00pm

Early dismissal – Monday 1 April:

Please note, on Monday 1 April, we will be using Day 6 bell times and dismissal is at 1.45pm.

International Women’s Day

On Friday 8 March, we at Kilbreda were able to participate in a collective, global celebration of achievement in all spheres – social, economic, cultural, and political – of women everywhere.  As a girls’ school, this is a particularly significant and joyful time, and a fantastic way to highlight the success of our students.  The day commenced with a community breakfast that celebrated the significant contributions that the Brigidine Sisters have and continue to make to our school community.  Our guest speaker, Dr Mayumi Purvis, inspired each of us to adopt the mentality ‘I am a woman, therefore I can’.  She reminded us of the importance of being people who are strong in character and kind in heart.  At lunchtime, to reinforce this year’s campaign theme, ‘Balance for Better,’ we had a lunchtime concert to celebrate the gifts and talents of each other and to remind and provoke discussions around what gender gaps still exist, and what changes need to occur.

National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence

On Friday 15 March, the Middle School Health and Wellbeing Leaders facilitated a range of activities that students could get involved in and take action on regarding the issue of bullying.  These activities were designed to spark conversation, raise awareness and empower Kilbreda students to become part of the solution.  Some of the activities that took place on this day included Kilbredachella (a music festival), an art mural, quizzes, games and a giant skipping challenge.  All students were given a wristband and card in Home Room to remind them that we must take a stand together in regards to bullying behaviour.

Harmony Day

Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity and recognises the significance of inclusivity, respect and belonging.  It is intended to support cohesion and inclusion and to promote a tolerant and culturally diverse society.  The continuing message for this celebration is ‘Everyone Belongs.’

The College celebrated Harmony Day on Thursday 21 March.  To honour this occasion, our VET Business students prepared orange hair ribbons for our entire school community.  Our Middle School Community Action Leaders prepared a lunchtime concert, which featured performances from:

  • Hayley Meure – Year 8.  Hayley took us back in time and reminded us of the journey we as a society had embarked on.  She challenged each of us to be part of the solution rather than the problem.
  • Middle School Orchestra.  The Middle School Orchestra performed a beautiful medley of songs from the movie ‘Moana.’  They were conducted by the inspiring Ms Rebecca Ford.
  • Year 8 students.  Ava Busuttil, Rachel Jones, Vali D’Souza, Sienna Koop, Olivia Davies, Ande Campos, Caitlin Gellie, Mia Wilson and Hayley Meure sang an acapella compilation of ‘Count on Me’ by Bruno Mars.
  • Unit 1 Dance Performance.  A stunning dance performance was delivered by our Year 10 Unit 1 dance students.
  • Ruby Ady – Year 11.  Ruby delivered an impromptu performance on the piano and invited all present (450+ students) to join in and sing along with her.  This was a joyous moment.
  • Despina Nianiakos – Year 12.  Despina closed our concert in fine style with a wonderful rendition of ‘Colours of the Wind.’
