Congratulations to our

Top Class Students

On March 12, VCE Unit 1 Drama students went to the Arts Centre, Melbourne to view the Top Class Concert consisting of the highest scoring VCE students in Drama from 2018.

We were delighted to see Nicholas Gale perform his solo, The Raven, at this session with Renae Jones performing The Regrettable Superhero, at the evening session.  Both were selected from hundreds of students in Victoria to perform their solos and demonstrate excellence.

Nicholas and Renae performed exceptionally well and our current VCE Drama students came away from the concert inspired and ready to embrace the challenge of their own solos, later in the year.

Congratulations Nicholas and Renae on this excellent achievement and for representing Kilbreda so well.

Kilbreda Dance Company

Kilbreda Dance Company (KDC) has started with a bang this year! Auditions began on February 22 with approximately 70 participants from Year7 to 10.

The goal of KDC is to provide an inclusive environment where every student is welcome to enhance and develop dance technique and friendships while preparing for performances. Throughout their experience in the company, our members will learn new steps, styles and choreography.

KDC  faculty is comprised of our director, producers, executive producers and choreographers. With our team of enthusiastic dancers, KDC is ready to face this new year!

Please welcome our 2019 Faculty:

  • Director - Ms Cara Mitchell.
  • Producers - Daphne Hymers and Áine Moroney.
  • Executive Producers - Mr David McKail and Mrs Nicole Everett
  • Junior Violet Choreographers - Emily Crick, Mia La Fontaine-Pollard, Charlotte Pulbrook, Eryn Sinclair, and Olivia West.
  • Junior Coral Choreographers - Ella Allan, Áine Moroney and Julia Pezzimenti.
  • Junior Aqua Choreographers - Amelie Foster, Daphne Hymers, Kiahna Yammouni and Natalia Zappala.
  • Competition Company Choreographers - Gemma Mravljak, Hunter Reynolds and Tasha Sampieri.

KDC applicants were given an opportunity to learn the audition choreography combination prior to the audition day. With the overwhelming number of students who applied, we have created a third recreational company to accommodate the mass interest.

Our recreational companies Junior Violet, Coral and Aqua will be open to exploring a range of styles and techniques in a relaxed environment which are suited to each student’s abilities. Rehearsals will be held on Friday at lunchtimes in the Auditorium and Dance Rooms. Performance opportunities include:

  • End of Term Performance (Term 2)
  • Brigidine Day (Term 3)
  • Awards Ceremony (Term 4)

Our new Competition Team will represent Kilbreda at a multitude of Dance Competitions, events and fundraisers throughout the year, rehearsing on Wednesday mornings between 7:30am -  8:30 am in the Auditorium. This then allows the team to use the time efficiently to execute clean and polish routines. Performance opportunities include:

  • External dance competitions
  • End of Term performance (Term 2
  • Brigidine Day (Term 3)
  • Awards Ceremony (Term 4)

On behalf of the Kilbreda Dance Company, we would like to thank the College Community for their ongoing support with our endeavour. We cannot wait for the school to see the hard work and dedication that has gone on weekly, not only from the students and choreographers, but from all involved with Kilbreda Dance Company.
