School Council

Kii TPS community!

The final term is upon us! And what a great way to start the term with celebrations!

Congrats to TPS on receiving the Victorian Education Excellence Awards for Outstanding Koorie Education Excellence. We are very grateful and proud for what the Koorie community has shared, taught and embedded into TPS for the many many many decades. We, who are non Koorie value this dearly and hope that our success at TPS leads to a better Australia through education! Congrats once again!!

Council met on Monday 21 Oct, below are some of the matters discuss.

Enrolments sub-committee

Thornbury Primary School continues to grow in student numbers are a steady but sustainable pace.  While we are not outgrowing capacity yet, like many other schools in the Northern Suburbs, we are projecting future growth and have to prepare for the possibility of a ceiling being placed on our enrolments in the next few years.

Council is acutely aware of the challenges this could pose given the uniqueness of our school, with its connections to the local Koorie community, its Woi-wurrung language program and cultural safety and its Steiner curriculum.  We are optimistic of finding a solution that will accommodate the needs of our diverse community.

We will be forming a sub-committee to work on a positive future enrolments strategy and are seeking expressions of interest from the school community.  Please contact Council you are interested.

Uniform Contract

We are continuing negotiations for a uniform supplier for the school.  We thank you all for your patience as we continue this process.   While we are running low on some items we have ordered new hats, with the new logo, as a one off.  They are currently available from the uniform shop.

Second Hand Uniform Stall

We will be holding another second hand uniform stall in late November.  So start clearing out those outgrown uniforms and get ready to buy some replacements!  Details will be communicated through Compass, posters and the usual channels when a date and time is set.
