T.I.M.E (Music)

Roll up, roll up to the Thornbury Primary Schools 2019 Arts Festival “Under the Big Top”.

With funds raised from previous Arts Festivals we have turned our new shade sail in to a big top and all TPS students are performing circus routines with our Artist in Residence Terry Cole.

Terry Cole is an accomplished actor, director, musician and circus performer.

Our TPS Instrumental musicians have composed original music to accompany these circus acts.  In addition to this some students will provide some sideshow entertainment.

SideShow schedules will be sent directly from instrumental teachers or music teachers.

Below are some composition are T.I.M.E musicians have created for Circus Acts, come along to hear them live and direct!!!

Meet Jack Tzikas our new brass teacher!

Jack is available on Wednesdays at TPS for trumpet, trombone, french horn and tuba lessons!

I have been playing the tuba since 2007. I graduated from Marcellin College in 2012 and was awarded Dux for Music Performance and subsequently was granted a place in the Bachelor of Music at both the University of Melbourne and Monash University. Since being admitted into the Bachelor, I currently hold a position as a tuba player for the Australian Discovery Orchestra, as well as being involved with many semi-professions and amateur orchestras, including; Stonnington Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphonia, Surrey Hills Orchestra, Zelman Memorial Orchestra,  South Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne University Wind Symphony, Melbourne Youth Orchestra, Percy Grainger Youth Orchestra, Melbourne Youth Wind Symphony, and the Australian Youth Band. I also debuted as a soloist in 2019, performing the Vaughan Williams tuba concerto in the Surrey Hills Orchestra Concertofest concert. I hold a Bachelor of Music (Performance) and am completing my Masters of Teaching (Secondary - Music).

African Drumming Concert

We had a great turnout for our African drumming concert at the end of term 3, with many families involved and even some parents and staff jumping in and joining in on the fun. Kate Tempany and Melissa Boyce have been working hard all year with all of the students who participated in our concert, from Prep all the way up to their senior drummers in grade six.

The night was a showcase of the range of songs that the children have been working on and was truly full of passion and vibrant happy faces. Following our junior drummers and their amazing performances, we were treated by the senior drummers and even some students that have since left Thornbury Primary School, showing their marvelous talents. Finally the true show stopper was the inclusion of parents and staff members to join in as we were guided through some ground shakingly interesting pieces that put us all in sync. What a fabulous evening that really embodied participation and performance in the true nature of Thornbury Primary School and the T.I.M.E team.
