Year 1/2–Celebrating Learning

This term our 1/2 classes have jumped straight into it with swimming lessons at Northcote Aquatic Pool. Our students had a real life lesson in dealing with disappointment for our first two cancelled sessions, but took it in their stride like the champions they are. It has been lovely to see big excited, smiling faces under wet hair and goggles. A big thank you to all our parent helpers at the pool, and all parents/carers doing the hard work of washing towels and bathers!

“I like when we jump in the pool - especially jumping in the deep end, playing around, and breaststroke.” - Ines

“I really enjoy jumping in the deep end and doing cannonballs. I don’t like getting out and being cold.” - Lavarah

Kii to everyone at TPS,

Class 2s have been working on understanding their local surrounds. Here is a beautiful sacred kingfisher and a yam daisy, (Microseris lanceolata), along with a poem as drawn by Co.

Every year the kingfishers, (Todiramphus sanctus), return to the Merri Creek to say hello again with their delightful melodious call of ‘Kii, Kii’. If you venture down there now and wait near a shady branch overhanging the creek, you might just be lucky enough to see one. Kii to everyone at TPS
